MOTORCYCLIST CRITICALLY INJURED IN HIT AND RUN CRASH NEAR VENTURA

MC Hit and Run Suspect Vehicle

     Updated--The CHP is looking for the suspect in a hit and run crash near Ventura Monday afternoon that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital in critical condition.

     It happened shortly after 4:30 PM on Pacific Coast Highway just south of Emma Wood State Beach.

     The CHP says the victim, a 23-year-old Oak View man, was riding his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on PCH to the southbound 101 when he was struck by a silver sedan.

     The motorcyclist was ejected.

     He was airlifted to VCMC by Copter 9 with major injuries that included broken bones and a severe head injury and was in critical condition.

     His current condition is unknown.

     Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle, that silver sedan and its driver, fled the scene and was still at large.

     The CHP is asking anyone who might have information about the vehicle to call (805) 662-2640.

STABBING IN SOMIS

     The Ventura County Sheriff's Office says they're looking for the suspect in a stabbing in Somis Monday night.

     It was reported around 8:40 PM at a nursery in the 5500 block of Los Angeles Avenue.

     They say a male adult stabbed another man and then fled the area.

     A search for the suspect using a drone and a K-9 failed to locate him and as of Tuesday morning he was still at large.

     The victim, a 52-year-old male, was taken to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he underwent surgery.

     He is expected to recover.

     No other details were available.

FEDS GO AFTER VENTURA MAN ON FIREARMS CHARGES

     The FBI says a Ventura County man with alleged ties to the Hells Angels is facing federal firearms charges following an investigation by the Ventura County Violent Crimes Task Force.

     30-year-old Cody James Sutton of Ventura was taken into federal custody on Friday from state custody where he had been incarcerated.

     He is now facing a federal indictment alleging that he is a felon in possession of ammunition and an unregistered handgun known as a ghost gun.

     They say Sutton’s earlier felony conviction regarded an injury hit and run collision last June.

     He was arrested Friday on the firearm’s violation following a probation search.

     Sutton is now free on bail and ordered to home confinement.

     His trial date has been set for June.

     If convicted he could face up to 15 years in federal prison.

SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN VENTURA COUNTY PHARMACY BURGLARIES

     The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve arrested a second suspect in connection with several pharmacy burglaries in the county on December 29th of last year.

     The burglaries involved one pharmacy in Simi Valley and two in Thousand Oaks.

     The suspects were able to gain entry but strong security measures kept them from actually getting any pharmaceutical products.

     The first suspect, 20-year-old Daniel Godinez of Lynwood, was arrested last month and is free on bail.

     The second suspect, 21-year-old Emmanuel Ojeda of Huntington Park, was arrested last week and is also free on bail.
