Deadly Weekend On Ventura County Roads

Monday October 16, 2023

It was a deadly weekend on Ventura County roads where three people died in three separate crashes.

Sunday afternoon around 2:20 PM a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Highway 150 west of Red Mountain Fire Road when, according to the CHP, the motorcycle traveled into the westbound lane when it collided head on with a 2019 Land Rover.

The CHP says that the motorcycle rider, 52-year-old James Arthur Dalton of Ventura, died, while his 36-year-old female passenger from Ventura suffered major injuries.

The 64-year-old Ojai man driving the Land Rover was not injured.

The CHP is still investigating the crash.

     Meanwhile,

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal traffic collision in Newbury Park Sunday morning.

It was a vehicle versus pedestrian collision reported around 9:48 AM in the area of Baxter Street and Kimber Drive.

That is in the middle of primarily a large residential area bounded by Reino Road on the west, Lynn Road on the south, Borchard Road on the north, and Wendy Drive on the east.

The adult male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

     And finally,

Simi Valley police say that one person died in a solo vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 1 PM in the 2000 block of Royal Avenue.

They say a vehicle traveling westbound on Royal near Haven Avenue veered off the roadway and slammed into a light pole.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a 61-year-old Simi Valley man, was taken to the trauma center at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he died.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
