KVTA's Award Winning News Team provides Listeners with local news, traffic & weather all day long.
The KVTA News team has more than 90 years of journalist experience, with dozens of Golden Mike and AP awards. It provides listeners with scheduled local news, traffic and weather more than 160 times each week, plus whenever major news breaks. Combined with the world wide resources of ABC News and the Associated Press, it brings you the most comprehensive local, state, national and international news in Ventura County.
News Director Rich Gualano
Rich has more than 33 years as a radio journalist, more than 25 years of that in Ventura County. He has won more than two dozen Golden Mike and AP awards during his career. Rich is a graduate of Cal State Northridge with Bachelors Degrees in Journalism and English. He reports on news and traffic for the Spence and Bob morning show, does afternoon traffic, and directs the KVTA News staff.
Senior Correspondent Alex Wilson
Alex covers the courts and county government for KVTA News. He is a native of Ventura who graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree. Alex as been a working journalist since then, involved in radio, television and print. He has won several Golden Mike and AP awards, including 2 for his live, on the scene, coverage of the January 10, 2005 La Conchita Landslide tragedy.
Anchor-Editor Jim Dooley
Jim has been a broadcast journalist since 1964. He’s worked in both radio and television and has covered the news in Ventura County for more than 30 years. He’s been involved in a number of award winning efforts that have garnered both Golden Mikes and AP awards. Jim edits and anchors the KVTA news during the afternoons and evenings.
