Large waves pounded the Ventura County coastline Wednesday as the high surf caused some minor flooding, increased erosion problems at the bike path around the County Fairgrounds, and prompted the closure of the Ventura Pier yet again.
A High Surf Warning was issued Wednesday and is expected to become a High Surf Advisory for Thursday.
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through Thursday night.
Six to 12-foot waves led the assault on mainly west facing beaches with sets to 16 feet.
Along with high tide Wednesday morning, the surf caused some minor flooding that closed a portion of the parking lot near the Ventura Pier.
Some lanes in the Pierpont Beach community also experienced some minor flooding, as did the parking lot at Marina Park in Ventura.
No major problems were reported.
Some of that flooding may return Thursday morning around 11 AM when there is high tide again.
