Victim Of Ventura's First Homicide Of 2020 Is Identified

       Updated--The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim of Ventura City's first homicide of 2020.

     They say that 21-year-old Alejandro Hernandez of Ventura died early Saturday morning at VCMC.

     Ventura police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting at the Ventura Beach Promenade parking structure.

       They say that 24-year-old Raymond Bolanos (pictured above) was booked into the Ventura County Jail Saturday afternoon for murder and street terrorism.

    The shooting took place around 2:43 AM Saturday at the top level of the parking structure at Harbor Boulevard and California Street.

    Two groups of people in separate cars got involved in an altercation.

    Police say that Bolanos, who was in one of the vehicles with three other people, allegedly starting shooting at the people in the other group who were standing outside of their vehicle.

    One of those struck by the gunfire, Hernandez, was taken to VCMC with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

    A second person who was struck by the gunfire survived.

    Meanwhile, police say that the vehicle Bolanos was in fled the area.

    A description of that suspect vehicle was sent out to other law enforcement agencies and it was spotted by the CHP in the area of Victoria Avenue and Nantucket in Oxnard.

    There was a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle went out of control and crashed into a field.

    Bolanos was booked into the Ventura County Jail for murder and street terrorism.

    He remains in jail with bail set at $610,000 and is due in court Wednesday.

    Court records indicate that Bolanos has a history of gang crimes and weapons violations along with a hit and run.

    Last August 28th he was sentenced to six months in the county jail and placed on three years of formal probation.
