Suspect In A Fatal Stabbing Outside Neptune's Net Has Been Identified And Arrested

Sunday June 23, 2019

Updated at 11 AM Sunday--The Ventura County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit has identified the suspect they've arrested in a fatal stabbing that happened Saturday night outside an iconic and popular gathering spot along Ventura County's south coast.

Detectives say that 30-year-old Daniel Maldonado of Ontario is alleged to have fatally stabbed a 23-year-old La Puente man several times during a confrontation between the two outside Neptune's Net on Pacific Coast Highway near Yerba Buena Road shortly before 11 PM Saturday night.

Neptune's net was closed at the time and Maldonado, the victim, and a number of other car enthusiasts had gathered in the parking lot when the fight broke out.

Detectives say the two men knew each other and had been involved in a previously unresolved dispute that may have been what led to the fight and the fatal stabbing.

Maldonado was arrested at the scene and is now in the Ventura County Jail facing a murder charge.

His bail is set at $500,000 and he is due in court Tuesday to be arraigned.
