The Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) is asking its customers to "dial-it-down" through Friday night to conserve natural gas supplies for the region because of peak demand during the cold weather.
It's the gas company's version of Southern California Edison's "flex alert" during heat waves to conserve electricity.
The Gas Company is voluntarily asking its customers to turn the thermostat down to 68 degrees when home and 55 degrees when you're not.
They say if that's too cold for you, compensate by dressing warmer around the house.
They also suggest that you...
*Wash clothes with cold water
*Run only full loads of clothes and dishes
*Take shorter showers to use less hot water
*Use low flow shower heads
*Make sure when you're using the heater to keep the windows and doors closed
