Simi Crossing Guard Killed In Traffic Collision

     Updated--Simi Valley police say a crossing guard was killed Tuesday afternoon in a traffic collision.

   They say around 2 PM there was a crash involving three vehicles at the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Socrates Avenue.

   Police say one of the vehicles struck a 62-year-old female crossing guard, Susan Burk of Simi Valley.

   She was standing on the northwest corner of the intersection when she was struck by one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

   They say at first Burk's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening but on the way to the hospital she took a turn for the worse and died.

   The crossing guard worked for the city of Simi Valley.

   Police say everyone stayed at the scene of the crash and there were no arrests and the investigation is continuing.

   In October, a Simi Valley a male crossing guard for the city of Simi Valley was injured when he was hit by a vehicle while pushing a pedestrian out of the way.

   He survived the incident.
