Oxnard police say they've made an arrest in connection with a recent homicide involving what they say was an intentional fatal hit and run collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian.
On the night of May 23rd, 31-year-old Michael Holley of Oxnard was struck and killed by a vehicle in the west alley of the 2000 block of Mariposa Street.
From the very beginning, investigators believed this was an intentional act and not an accident and they were looking for the driver of a specific vehicle.
Major Crimes detectives say that thanks to a number of people who provided them with significant information about what happened, they were able to identify the suspect as 26-year-old Juan De Dios Gallegos lll of Oxnard.
Gallegos, who has an extensive criminal record with eiight convictions including one for assault with a deadly weapon, was located and arrested on a parole violation.
Then today (Tuesday) he was arrested on murder and other charges related to the Holley homicide while already in the Ventura County Jail on the parole hold.
His bail was set at $500,000 but the parole hold prevents him from being released.
Gallegos is scheduled to be in court Wednesday.
Holley's death was the 6th homicide this year in Oxnard.
