It Took A Day But Oxnard Police Catch Fleeing Felon

Sunday October 7, 2018

It took about 24 hours, but Oxnard police captured a wanted felon who initially eluded their attempts to take him into custody.

They say that late Saturday afternoon in the border area between Oxnard and El Rio their Special Enforcement Gang Unit spotted a vehicle driven by a man who was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants.

When they attempted to pull it over, they say the suspect failed to yield and there was a pursuit.

Police say that the suspect was driving so recklessly they called off the pursuit because of safety concerns.

The vehicle, which was reported stolen, was later found abandoned.

A perimeter was set up and a search conducted but they did not find the suspect.

So Sunday evening they returned to that area and spotted the suspect.

They say he tried to run but this time they caught him.

Oxnard police say 25-year-old David Reyes of Oxnard was arrested on the two outstanding felony warrants, vehicle theft, drug possession, felony evading, and resisting arrest.
