Port Hueneme police are investigating a shooting incident Sunday night where a gunman fired several rounds at a passing car with a 6-year-old boy inside.
They say it happened in the 2500 block of Rudder Avenue in Port Hueneme.
As officers responded to several reports of shots fired in that area, the father of the boy flagged them down and reported what happened.
He told officers he was driving south on Rudder with his 6-year-old boy in the back seat when he heard several shots and realized his vehicle had been struck by gunfire.
They discovered the man's vehicle had been struck by four bullets, one went through the rear window and the other hit the rear passenger door, near where the boy was sitting.
Fortunately, no one was wounded.
Police found a parked vehicle in the area that had also been struck by gunfire.
The suspects were described only as two males with dark hoodies.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or questions about this incident can contact Detective Mike Hamrick at the Port Hueneme Police Department (805) 986-6541 or email at email@example.com
