Fatal Crash Shuts Down SB 101 Near Ventura

     Update at 11:05 AM Sunday---Roadway is OPEN

     Updated at 10:30 AM Sunday---SB 101 still closed between Seacliff & State Beaches as CHP wraps up its investigation and waits for tow trucks to take vehicles away.  PCH is being used as the detour.  There was a separate unrelated non-injury crash north of there on SB 101 at the Mobil Pier that happened around 8:50 AM that was on the right shoulder.

     Updated---A fatal crash early Sunday morning shut down the Southbound 101 near Ventura.

   It happened at 4:30 AM on the Southbound 101 just north of the State Beaches exit.

   The initial report from the CHP was that it involved a solo vehicle rollover with one person ejected and then struck by other vehicles.

   That one person was killed while another person suffered major injuries and a third person suffered a complaint of pain.

   The CHP shut down southbound 101 at Seacliff and diverted traffic onto Pacific Coast Highway.

   The vehicles then got back on the southbound 101 at State Beaches near Ventura.

   The SB 101 was closed for six-and-a-half hours as the CHP investigated.

   It was reopened at 11 AM Sunday.

   NB 101 was not impacted.
