The Ventura County Sheriff's Office says a Ventura County boy is hospitalized with severe burns following an accident at his home Wednesday night.
They say it happened in the 17,000 block of Lockwood Valley Road in extreme northern Ventura County near the Kern County line.
Deputies say the 11-year-old boy was standing next to a warming or camp fire when he poured gasoline on the flames.
That cause the fire to erupt and the flames severely burned the boy.
He was rushed to a nearby Kern County Fire Station and then taken to the hospital in Bakersfield where deputies say he was in critical but stable condition.
