The Ventura City Council Monday night will consider banning the sale of flavored e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco products.
The ban is being proposed by Mayor Matt Levere and Council Member Cheryl Heitmann.
Levere tells KVTA News the idea is to help reduce the attraction such nicotine-laced products have for juveniles.
He says the use of e-cigarettes by high school students rose by 78 percent between 2017 and 2018 and one reason why is the marketing of flavored e-cigarettes.
He says marketing of flavored tobacco products has the same purpose.
Levere says dozens of communities around California area imposing such bans and that number is growing.
